A couple days ago. I took the kids to the nature pond. It wasn't as fast as i expected, but they caught 4 slimers in about 1 1/2 hours. It was really busy and I imagine it is being fished out fast. Glad to see so many kids out fishing. Sad that it wasn't easier for them, but I guess they will learn patience or quit.[frown] One of the stockers I released wasn't doing so well and a Turn came down and took it off the top of the water. It was fun watching it struggle to get a fish as big as it was to its nest.

Yesterday we went on a family drive to Sandcreek. Fished pond #1 for a couple of hours. Only caught two but they were holdovers from last year. There were plenty of fish in the pond just couldn't get them to bite. Even tried flies, lures, etc... It think the fish just have plenty of food saw tons of leeches in the water. I wouldn't walk in the water barefoot if you head up there.

Today I fished the afternoon with Steelfisher at Ririe. Started off good with Steelfisher catching a 14 1/2" smallie. For those that don't know Rire that is nearing trophy size for that lake. We fished three more hours and only manged three each all under 12". Still fun to get out and I still love smallies. I just can't believe we are so far behind season wise. The smallies haven't even spawed and weren't even close. They were still on the deep drop offs staging for the spawn.

Thanks for the report. I went and fished the rexburg pond yesterday for a little bit too. I had a couple hours to kill and wanted to see how it was. I missed probably 30 fish, had a bunch on that got off and brought one little guy to hand. It was fun being able to sight fish with some flies again. Water has been so off color i've been staring at the bobber for a while. Thanks for the report on the other two places as well. I was thinking about driving out to sand creek to check it out. I've never been there before but have heard it can be a lot of fun. I'm also shocked how late everything is this year. The weather has been throwing all the hatches off as well.

How was the water clarity and temperature? I've got a family reunion 4th of July weekend and its our tradition to dive for crawfish on the way up to the reunion. I imagine its going to be a short dive this year.

thank you so much for the report on ririe. I went down and fished it about 2 weeks ago....no luck. im hoping in another week or two the smallies will have moved a little shallower. Im guessing you were on a boat. It was milk chocolate when i was there. is it still the same or has it cleared up some.
