Decided to head to Island Park this week. I have been fishing up there for the past few years but never really camped out. Does anyone know of some good camping areas? Fee or no fee and I will have my camper. No electric needed. I'll be there alone, so if anyone needs a fishing buddy let me know.

Also, any report of what has been working on Henrys Lake?

Turn at Harriman State Park on to GreenCanyon Road and it will take you to West End camp ground on Island Park Res. There are several fingers that you can camp on right next to the water . The fishing is pretty good from the bank and a float tube in that area . In the fall when the lake gets low the grass and weeds grow tall and get full of bugs and worms . In the spring when the water is high like it is this year . The shallows are full of food and fish . Curt G.

That campground allows trailers as well? I have a small 18' is all. Just making sure before I head up tomorrow. Thanks for your help on this.

When you camp on the fingers it is not a formal campground . There are just a lot of spots near the bank that you can set up camp . There are pit toilets and there is one central water spout to get water if you run low . These spots are free . There is a formal camp ground at the end of the road . I have never stayed in it and I think they charge to stay there . I like this area because you can put your rods out on the bank and watch them from camp . . Curt G.

If you have a two pole permit . When you are out in your float tube . Put one out with a nightcrawler and marshmellow . Then flyfish or through spinners with the other one . Good Luck . Curt G.

Anyone heard any reports on the inlet below McCreas bridge down to lakeside lodge as to the fishing in that area? Sounds like most of the posts are about the west end.

Fished south goose island yesterday . The fish are shallow , caught two four pounders in 6 feet of water on nightcrawler and marshmellow . Caught smaller fish in deeper water . Curt G.

Just got back and had a lot of fun camping where you suggested Curt. Bugs were horrible, but luckily I was able to set the poles up and sit in my camper to escape the swarms. This was a great spot and I appreciate the help.

Sorry about the bugs , but I am glad you caught some nice fish . If you could have got out in your float tube the bugs would not bother you . They just hang around in the grass and swarm up when lunch show up . Curt G.

Nice fish, buddy! You going to be heading back up this direction any time soon?

Hoping so. This was the first trip I have taken with the new camper so I didn't know how long I'd stay or anything. Now that I feel good about it and what not I am hoping to go that direction often. Pick a weekend and I'm there.

I have a week of in late July that I haven't decided what to do yet as well. Either Stanley or back up your direction. Let me know if you have some time you could slip away around then and it might persuade me to go your way.
