So the DC is still quite cold. I went up over the weekend and was able, through much effort, to get a few smallies. I took my dad with me for father's day and he only managed a little 8 incher. [frown] Not the great father's day haul I hoped he would have. In a couple more weeks with the higher temps hopefully DC will pick up.
Also, has anyone been to FISH LAKE in the last week. I am going down this weekend and was wondering if the trout and perch had snapped out of their winter slumber. Last year we couldn't keep the perch off the line, and the trout were a little hard to come by though. any info would really be appreciated.
Thanks!!!

I guess I didn't realize that they ever went into a slumber. Did I miss something?
What are you looking for? Rainbows? Splake? Are you planning on fishing from a boat, or from shore?

I guess it seems to me like they go into a slumber, due to the fact that my catch ratios decrease dramatically when the ice comes on[crazy].
Any trout or perch would be great. we will be doing both boat and shore fishing. We are taking some friends and their kids who have never been fishing before and I am hoping to show them a good time. Any tips would be great.
Thanks!
Perch never go into a slumber mode... you have to find a place where there's a opening in the weeds in the 7-12 feet and jig it... I catch 'em year round.

shorefishing Fish Lake is tough, due to the weeds. You can try fishing where Twin Creeks enters the lake, and fishing should be good -- but only if there space available. It gets kind of crowded.
If you have a boat, go anchor outside the weeds. You can fish with bait, or use your favorite jig tipped with some cut bait (catch a perch and then cut it into strips). You should be able to catch splake and perch doing this. If you aren't catching fish, pull anchor and trying moving to another spot.
Also, summertime trolling at Fish Lake is usually very good for decent rainbows. Pop-gear and a worm, flat fish, triple teaser, etc.
Good luck.
