FINALLY going to get the boat out this weekend. Thinking Echo, but wonder if it's still chocolate milk water from the Weber. East canyon any more clear? I do well at both trolling, but the fish have to be able to see the lures. Any suggestions?

You probably already know...but, the road from Parley's over to EC is still closed as of today (6/21). Not sure if that plays a role in your decision, but it might depending on where you're coming from. Just thought I'd throw that out there. I've been wanting to try Echo or EC myself. I hope wherever you end up produces for you.

Coming from the Salt Lake Valley, I usually take I-80 past Echo, then cut over to Hannah and come into EC that way. No problem there, right? Don't like pulling a boat up the other way anyway. Too many switchbacks and bike riders...

We haven't had many if any reports from Echo but East canyon has been fair to good depending on the angler. I did read that they stocked a lot of fish in EC last fall and fishing was great about a month ago but the last report sounded like things had slowed down. Good luck no matter where you go and please post a report when you get back. Thanks

Last Echo report was turbid water due to the run-off. Probably worse this week with the high temps. EC is probably a better bet. I'll probably check out both. Will post a report Saturday.

i went to east canyon yesterday off the shore and got two decent size small mouths with one of the imitation rooster tails walmart sales in the value packs i was there for about an hour or so but if your in a boat casting into the newly submerged vegitation you should get into them pretty good.

Trolled E.canyon yesterday ( Wed) and did very well with popgear and a worm, boated 14 between my buddy and I. Another friend was there at the same time in his boat with his son. They boated 21 using the same thing except they were putting there popgear down 10 feet on a downrigger. If you're going Saturday I suggest you get there as early as possible and avoid the power squadron that will show up there along with our newly found summer temps !

Good info. Any size to the fish or just planters? If pop gear works, Rapalas and other lures should work as well. What the "power squadron" isn't thinking about is how COLD that water is, despite the hot air temps. Not much wakeboarding for awhile I think...

All were probably right at 14"....pretty sure they are last years planters.Thing is, they had all their fins, pretty colors and spots and they all fought very well considering they were pulling against the pop gear.I'm with you...if you can catch'em on Rapalas and such that's way more fun than popgear.My buddy tried 5/6 different types of crankbaits prior to the popgear with only one hit. I didn't have my downriggers with me so not sure how deep he was getting.Might've done well with the Rapalas if I had brought my down riggers.BTW...water temp when we launched was 61...67 when we left around 3 pm.
