nephew is getting 2 grand,he's thinking of getting 4stroke 9.9,what should I tell him,used 2 stroke?

Yamaha 4 stroke. I wouldn't have any other type of motor. Well, Honda makes a heck of a motor too. I wouldn't go used either, unless they found a really good deal on a newer motor, like less than 4 years old. You never know how a motor was taken care of. If you buy it, and it blows up the next day, oh well, you're out the cash.

I think it depends on the water you are gonna be fishing the most. I have an older 2 stroke that was rebuilt a few yrs ago and I love it. Its a 50hp jet motor because I like going in rivers and I think thats its actually an all around motor because I take it everywhere from big water to 1 ft deep, dont ask my wife the same question cause she wants me to trade my fishin boat for a pontoon!!! Ha ha

Im gonna say a new Yamaha 4-stroke as well. Very good reliable motor. They sip gas, run great at low speeds, dont stink or smoke and they r very quiet. There are a few times i tried to start mine when it was already running lol.

It's funny you mention that. I have done that more than once with those Yamahas. Most everyone in my area runs those 4 strokes. [:p]
