My wife and I were up near Mill Hollow for a ride last Saturday and decided to try checking out the lake. I didn't expect to make it in since we had the mall crawling jeep. To my surprise we made it just fine. The lake has open water on the north side, inlet area, and along the dam. About 2/3 was still iced over but with the warm weather it should be completely open soon. The campground was snowed in as was the road past the dam. There were some folks fishing but I didn't see any one catch any. I didn't have my pole or I would have a better report.

Put a rod in your vehicle for emergency use. Even if it's a cheap spare. I mean you carry a jack and a spare tire with you. How much snow has on the ground up there?

Yeah I should put in an emergency rod (my wife said the same thing). The snow amounts varied quite a bit on the road going past the dam there was about 1-2 feet of snow but it was melting fast. In the campground area there looked to be about 3-4 feet. Up at the top of Wolf Creek pass you can't even pull off the road.

Well I took my 5 and 6 year old grandkids up there to catch some fish today and the lake is wide open and the roads are open farther than last Saturday. We caught a bunch of small bows and tigers and the kids had a great time. They wouldn't stay out of the water and came back a mess, but isn't that what grandpas are for ?
