Got up to the Gorge at Buckboard for a couple of days with Petty4life and Art(owner of Kokanee Creek Tackle). We got a late start on Thursday but were on the lake fishing by 8am. Started catching fish right away with the average koke being 2.5- 3 lbs, the smaller fish were around 12”. Water temp started off around 62* and by the time we got off the water around 5 or 6pm was up to 72*, Jason keep saying it was, “cool to the touch”, but I had my doubts[Wink]. It was an awesome day and great company but it was, way too hot after such a cool spring and by days end I was feeling the effects of all that sun. We kept 4 that first day and after filleting them, Art and Jason did a great job of grilling them up for dinner, once we got to shore. Wyoguy was fishing there as well and he brought some corn over to add to the feast and all I can say is Wow, nothing like fresh caught salmon and sweet corn, thanks Gary, it was good to see you again. We caught around 30 that first day with a few of the smaller(12-20”) macks thrown in for good measure. We used a variety of lures and tackle but the KCT black pearl spinner, was the hot ticket for us, trolled at 1.4 to 1.7mph.
We got an earlier start yesterday and were fishing a little after 6am , again we started catching fish within a few minutes of getting the lures down. I think because we started fishing earlier the fish were closer to the surface with some being caught at 15 ft. The fish were a little pickier with no one lure standing out until we got to sample some of Art’s, secret new lures for next year. Overall the catching was a little slower but since we were going home that day, Jason and I kept a limit of the bigger kokes and we had our 6 fish by 9:30am. We moved to another area and were picking up some smaller fish but managed one nice Bow that went 18-19” and around 3 lbs. We called it quits a little after 2pm because we still had the make the long drive home and we were still feeling the effects of all that sun. I’m hoping that Jason and Art will add to some of my pics, since I took so few of the fish but I’ll put up a few that I took. A big thanks to Art for being such a gracious host and for Jason for the invite. Petty4life will also be posting a report on the Kokaneefishingforum.com for those that want to read it there. It was a great way to start off the summer fishing season and I hope I get another chance to get up there to do it again.

Great seeing you again, and meeting Jason. Thanks for sharing your 'feast' with me, what can I say... fresh caught salmon is the best! Hope to hook up for some wiper fishing soon.
