Still reading lots of material on them Walleye and trying new presentations, techniques, lures...hit Willard on 25 Jun Saturday launching from the North Marina as usual...headed out to the same general area as last week. On the water approx 0830 and called it at 1145 off the Bay at 1215.

Before I get to the fish'n part...for some reasons I'm firmly starting to believe us Anglers are magnets for yahoo rec boaters. Had this one boat heading right for us turned slightly to cut between us and and another boat...wake boarder of course goes and jumps the wake they love to do and as fate would have it dumps right in front of us. Needles to say there was at the beginning by me a polite hey if you see folks fish'n please keep your distance especially with the wake these boats give off...well one fine gentlemen took exception to me being trying to be nice and let me put it this way don't push me as folks who know me...not good. These human species left and we didn't see them again. [mad]

Now onto the fish'n...our best day yet at Willard. Probably will be one of the last days for us as we're off to explore another Utah waterway for the season. Ended up boating 11 Eyes and one Kitty. Had several mystery hits and one hit that had my 9' rod doubled almost in half. Grabbed the rod from the holder and my bait caster was peeling off line...drag set tight but not too tight...then line goes slack thought for sure my harness was gone but it wasn't. Most likely a Wiper but sure would've been nice to see how big...never had line peel off like that and I've caught a few Wiper.

Have a great Sunday and week...TIGHT LINES!! [Smile][Smile]

Nice post - ah what nice eyes you have!!! Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you guys have got 'em pretty well figured out.
That thump-and-a-peel sounds like Wiper action alright. Too bad he got off. I'll wager you were into one of those 7-8lbers for that much fight. And on a big rod!

Was over at a smaller puddle same day, and they were having a HUGE wakeboard event (had I known...). Seems like the cops will bend or ignore all the rules when it comes to those big fancy expensive boats. THEY have to be protected from us simple lil' fisher-folk.

Willard really shocks me how close they'll come, and at what speeds, without a single care, OR they actually do it on purpose with a vindictive gleam in their eye!

Look forward to your reports from that "other" water. Guessing it's Musky Time! [cool]
Coyote I feel for ya. I caught the tail end of that event in my float tube. But I was constantly bombarded by a indian man on a jet ski who just had to weave inbetween all us tubers. I hate people like that.

That's when you lob a 6" jerkbait with 3 sets of trebles at their head.

Been tempted haha. but one phrase keeps echoing in my head......ONE CALL , THAT"S ALL!

[cool][#0000ff]The phrase that keeps floating through my ears...with nothing to stop it...is S...S...S. (Shoot, Shovel & Shut up.)[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]They can't sue if they can't dial that phone.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]As bad as Utah is, Arizona was just as bad or worse. You didn't even wanna be on any lake down there on the weekends. Lots of mixing of alcohol and gasoline. Major accidents and deaths on the water every weekend.[/#0000ff]

Is THAT why the call them "jerk"-baits?

And don't forget a rod with good backbone, and strong line to allow "lifting power".
Definitely. It's braid all the way with skiers.
