Fished at Utah lake on Saturday. I had similar success with all the different species of fish. I found a school of very large bluegill. They were close to the dinner plate size I have caught out of pelican on several occasions. The bigger bluegill were very aggresive. The would hit my sixteenth once maribou below a bobber as soon as it hit the water. I didn't even need to use bait. The catfishing was good but not as red hot. I suspect the are no longer spawning. Next time I go I will start fishing with whole white bass filets on the bottom instead of the bobber in the reeds tecnique. Seems like the bigs ones really start biting well around July. The walleye fishing was unreal again. I only caught two, but they were both between five and six. I lost four others. I had a hard time keeping them on. My brother landed three. They were nice fish as well. I hooked one that was absolutly huge. It fought a lot harder than the 9# I caught last week. I fought it for some time and then the line snapped. I don't hardly ever snap fish off. I was using 10# XT. I really think it must have happened on the walleyes teeth. My brother told me it was a giant carp. It did hit it like a freight train though. I guess carp will hit a plastic now and then. Caught way more whities this time. I asume they are returning from wherever they spawn. In august they get so thick in that spot you cant hardly fish for anything unless you are using whole white bass. Quite a few crappie as well. They were hitting the three inch walleye plastics.
