my boy went fishing with his grandmother yesterday while I was at work. First, he corrected her for the size of hook and tying on the sinker instead of using a barrel. he explained to her why that was important. Then, he saw her knot tying and showed her how to tie a palomar knot which she couldn't do, so he showed her the simple fisherman's knot. After she didn't catch any fish, he landed a few she wanted to keep for the table...my boy told her that as far as the fish he catches they were all going back in the lake so he can catch them again and again...I didn't realize how much my boys watch what I do and mimic it. Kid is only 9, puts that much more responisbility on me to be a good example. There is no way in hades at 9 I would have ever thrown a fish back on my own unless it was a chub.
