[font "Calibri"]I took my dad, 3 of my sons and one of my son’s fiancé to Soldier Creek to see if we could find some bows. We arrived on the water around 0800 and started trolling from the boat ramp down to the narrows. There was so much floating debris that it looked like a new island had formed. We had our first hook up just as we entered the debris field. It seemed that the bows were hiding under the logs. We were true gentlemen and let the only lady on board reel in the first (also her first ever) fish and she promptly announced that she wanted “to do it again”. We trolled around with good success offering several lures pulling behind the boat at various depths. We used “rapala like” lures with silver sides and yellow sides and also flatfish in orange or red. An F-7 blaze orange flatfish on mono line on top was a favorite. We trolled at the blazing speed of 1.6-1.8mpg on the GPS.[/font]
[font "Calibri"]About 11 the “W” started to come up and we tried drifting with powerbait and had as much or more success with this method (Chartruse). We caught the biggest bows jigging while drifting and BBQing hot dogs for lunch. About 1300 the white caps started to show and we took the hint and left.We ended up with 11 bows and one kokanee. the koke was caught on the orange flatfish about 15' down. Smiles all around and most of them napped all the way home where we had a fillet fest and divided the catch up for a tasty dinner and some for the smoker. Can’t wait to do it again.[/font]

Great report. We were there Saturday and the wind started at 9:30 and white caps by noon. I am thinking, one I hooked on a Damsel nymph was very silvery and no spots...Koke? It has been a long time since I have hooked one, but, pretty sure that is what it was.
My best surprise was the majority I hooked were rainbows, but one long lean 26" and one nice thick 25" Cutthroat on this trip. I don't care what you all say, that cutt was a bear trying to get it.[cool]

I agree on the floaters....a lot of it, specially floating backwards on a pontoon...seemed I was hitting every piece out there[blush]

Thanks for the report and specially the visual aid...love it!

They may have been a little on the small side but it was fun to fish Strawberry and not catch a single Cut that we had to worry about sending back into the water.

On another note we talked with some volunteers as the were bringing this enormos boat back to the dock. Apparently they had just planted 35,000 cuts and said they had another 35,000 to do later that afternoon. 70,000 cuts sent swimming on the Soldier Creek side. It was fun being attached to the dock and seeing all those fish swimming around.[Smile] Also saw some BIG crawdads for those who wanted to know.

Thanks again Dad for the trip it was awesome!

Joni, it was nice chatting with you guys again last weekend. I never did wet a line on that trip (wasn't feeling good - allergies and maybe one too many beverages)! Gotta be the first occasion I've spent so much time at a lake without even making a couple of casts! Did ya notice the horde of huge "dino-chubs" under the dock next to the launch ramp?

I caught one CHUB to the side of the boat launch...stupid chub fell on my knife though....[crazy]
I didn't see any chub, but I did hook this guy right at the end of the dock...I was about 15' off the rocks, just barely launched and tossed out a bunny

I tell you what...everyone stopped what they were doing temporarily. [laugh][laugh][cool]
