Hey guys new to the idaho board but my son and I will be up around stanley and sun valley Idaho the 9th and 10th we are from utah but we love to fly fish. We are looking to possibly get some info on the rivers and lakes up there or possibly to meet up and fish with some new people. We have all our own tackle rods and float tubes and such. If you would like to meet up and show us the ropes we would love that pm me for contact info.
Thanks guys!

I don't know the sunvalley area very well, but someone will be able to help you. I would think silver creek, woodriver, maybe Magic Res?

Thanks I'm hoping to get on some good fish. Every year my son goes to camp up in the saw toooths and we only ever catch the fingerling bookies and rainbows.

Truth is thats about all you have to look forward to in that area is small brookies and such, you might get lucky and hook up on something a little better in one of the lakes, but i wouldn't hold my breath.
As far as the Sun valley area the Bigwood is runnin' high and dirty right now and i doubt it will be any better by the 10th.
Your best bet for some big Browns and Bows is either Magic res. or below the dam at Magic.
(Hot springs landing at magic is not fishable right now or will it be anytime soon)
Another option is Silver creek lots of big fish, but ya gotta be carful cuz every little stretch of Silvercreek has a different set of regs, but as long as you Fly fish single barbless and C&R only you should be safe..
Heres this weeks fishing report for the SV area.............................

Enjoy the scenery. It is sure beautiful this time of year! As has been said -- runoff is huge and many lakes and areas are still snow covered, but I am sure the mosquitoes up there are enjoying the cool wet spring we have had!
There have been some posts in the past on Alturus, Redfish, and Stanley Lakes. You might try searching on those.
I am not sure where the snow level is up there, but there may be a few lakes you can hike into. The fish won't be big though. Northwest of Sun Valley there are some short hikes into Baker, Norton, or Prairie lakes that are at about the 8500 to 8800 ft range. They should be open. Lots and Lots of day hikers on the trail from SunValley! Check the regulations for Baker as it has special rules.
