I wish I knew of a light weight, well padded, rod/reel case that would hold multiple 6'5" rods with spinning/level wind reels. Something light weight and durable enough for use to transport multiple (4-6) quality rod/reel combos.
Or, any other case that is not necessarly a fishing rod case. Just so it would get the job done.
Anyone know of such a thing?

Hmm are you looking to just transport them in your vehicle or are you traveling by air ?
If you traveling by car theres the Rod Loft Pro not really a case more a in car rack. The other option is to get a roof rack like a Yakima
But dont think they make anything commercially that big for 6 rods & reels. I know allot of the older fly rod cases for 9 foot fly rods were PVC pipe wrapped in cordura.
You could try getting a large PVC pipe pad the insode with foam the reel obvious would sit at the top of the pipe then fabricate a couple snap so the reels secure around outside of the diameter of the pipe
Then find something to snap to the end to cover the reels and handles

What I want is a "case" to put the rod/reel combos in and then be able to toss it in the bottom of the boat or in the bed of my truck. So yes, something more like what would be necessary if I were shipping them in the airlines. What would be good would be a giant arrow case. They work great for short ice fishing rods but I need one that would hold several 7 foot rods.
I may end up fabricating something out of PVC piping.

[#500000]I saw something similar on a tuna boat once ........ It was a fancy grained 1/4 inch birch plywood box ........ It had those swimming noodles, cut in half lengthwise to lay the rod part in with space at both ends for the reels and rod handles ........ They were secured in the box with those slider ties on 1/8 inch bungee cord ......... The rods were laid in so that one reel was on one end and the next reel on the other end, (to save space I suppose) .[/#500000]

[#500000]Smith and Edwards might have something in their surplus that you could put these noodles in.[/#500000]
[#500000]However, now that you have mentioned PVC, you may have awakened Tube Dude.[/#500000]

I found a bag for you old coot. Cabelas has a "pro rod bag" for $59.99. It will hold 8 rod reel combos, up to 7" long. I personally owned the bag and I love it.

Thanks WiperMac,
That is close to what I had in mind. It might just do the trick.
C-mon payday.

I went fishing with Pikeman99 a couple months ago. He had several hard plastic cases that held several rods and reels. Very snug hold on the rods when closed. The cases looked pretty durable, like you could toss 'em in the bed of the pickup. You might try to send him a PM. I think they came from Bass Pro Shops.

It does say 8 rod real combos, maybe maybe not. I keep 4 level line trollers, a spincast, and a ultralite and i'd say its FULL. Just a FYI.
