Thanks to mr.jig12 I've gotten renewed interest in Milner for cats. I went a couple months ago but the water was too high at my normal spot so I think I'll move further east towards Burley. I'm thinking the northwest side of Overland Bridge or maybe off the docks by the Marina... any thoughts or recent reports? I think it was just stocked.
I'll post pics if I can anything decent. I want to take my pontoon but I'm still nervous about venturing onto the big water since I've never pontooned much before lol.

Don't know how the fishing is but they really dropped the water level in the river this week, it is down to normal levels now.

My uncle said he's heard good things recently so I'm hopeful. I'll bring some corn and fish for carp too while I'm at it. I think ill go early in the morning tomorrow to check it out

Ive seen a lot of people out by the bridge and the marina But haven't heard of anything good coming out yet. if your going to use a toon put in by cal ranch and go downstream to the point just down stream from where the drain ditch runs in by magic valley gravel its only 50 foot down stream from the last dock . lot of good cats caught there in past years. use sucker meat or minnows. if your worried you might run into trouble pm me when your going and i will give you my cell in case you need assistance.

Well, how was the cat fishing, at Milner? I caught alot of fish but most were small. Did get one between 8-9 pounds. It was really long for its weight tho, looked a little under fed.

No luck... caught a ton of lm bass and probably 6 sucker fish (another 30 by hand, which was fun) started at 3am and stayed out till about 2pm, then decided to go swimming lol. I need to hook up with one of you experts and catch a few of these fish that elude me so well.

I have caught a lot of cats there but I did it in the toon. I have never caught a quality cat from milner. I am sure there are to be some there some where. Here is the problem. You can drive 1 to 2 hours to get to a place on milner from Buhl. You have about a .5% chance to catch a catfish. You have about .0005% chance to catch a quality catfish.
Or you can drive to any place below swan falls and have a VERY GOOD chance at a cat. You have a GOOD chance at a Quality cat. Even if you go to lake lowell you have a good chance at a cat. The fact is Milner COULD be a quality catfish location IF we imported some fish that are adult breeders from a river or lake that is close to our elevation and climate. Idaho should trade a semi load of trout to Utah for a small truck of breeders from Utah lake or Willard bay. A big load of flatheads from the Mississippi river would work too. Ron

Swan Falls is too far for me right now due to work constraints and childcare but I'm not giving up on Milner yet... Maybe even Crane Falls. This seems to be a repeat of last summer for me, one of these years I'll get em!

For a good shot at a cat Dog creek is the place. You won't get a monster but you will get you feet wet. I HAVE wasted too many days at milner. There are better places to fish. Ron

Milner finally was good to me

Did you see my Swan Falls posts?
Were you fishing the bank or did you get your pontoon out? Ron

I did Ron! Looked like a lot if fun, I'm jealous. I went out last minute after hearing a positive report from a customer at my job and caught them all in a couple feet if water by a tree that had drifted into the toolies. It was the best day of fishing this year. I love catfish!

Did you ever get my PM? I offered to take you to Dog Creek. Ron

Yes I replied but i only use my phone for internet and it sometimes makes me post a couple times before it goes through... One of these days ill get enough time off work to take my pontoon out, seeing all these threads really makes me want to go even more.
I might make one more trip out to milner this year... See if we can reproduce results.
