We did not want to hassle with the big crowds this weekend
so we are staying close to home and fishing the local ponds
" The Cove @ Herriman "
Lots and lots of bluegill and a ton of moss. Did not stay here long, cause I hate fighting the moss. Catfish were being caught and were 17 to 18 inches but skinny. Sorry no pics.
" Willow Pond"
Clean water,no moss, and not very crowded. Some bluegill, but not enough to be annoying. We caught lots of
kitties on a plane ole nightcrawler, fished on the bottom.
Bobby landed her first cat of the year, and my grandson
Tayler landed two at once. The pond was clean and the people there were taking care to stay out of each others way. Pics 001-004.
"Midas Pond"
Clean water, but limited access do to the high weeds around the bank. Tayler and I found a couple holes and it was on. Managed some cats on the plain ole worm again. We arrived there bout 10 this morning and left round noonish. The fishing was good. Pics 005-011.Happy 4th to all and stay safe.

to tell you the truth i very rarely ever fish at the local ponds due to the poor attitude and the way the fishermen take care of the ponds the trash that people leave around and just the other day i watched a dwr officer get an ear full from one of the most ignorant jerks i have ever seen the officer was not in uniform and was doing some fly fishing
and he asked the guy if he would please pick up his trash so it would not blow into the pond and the guy came unglued the dwr gent showed his badge and the guy told him to get lost because he did not work for murray city and he had no right to tell him anything in murray city this is not the first time i have seen things like this
sorry i just wanted to get this off my chest

an hour later i talked to the code inforcement officer he said the guy reported the dwr guy and he told him he had every right to ask him about his trash and he said he wished that regular fishermen would do the same it cost alot to pick up aroud that pond daily
enough that they are looking at chargeing a day use fee to use local ponds every one should be upset with the lack of fishing edequte in this state i miss the good old days where fishermen were the cream of the crop of all sportsmen

again thaks for letting me vent

That is odd. I was talking to a DWR guy just a while ago. He said that they are Federal and not State. He told me he could even give me a speeding ticket if he wanted to.

From what I understand a dwr officer has more authority than a regular police officer. They can write anything from traffic tickets to wildlife violations!

Funny how rumors get started.

DWR Conservation Officers are Utah State Employees.
They belong to the Department of Natural Resources,[DNR]
Division of Wildlife Resources.[DWR]

Local police officers can cite for fishing offenses.
They just need to be trained by the DWR first.

Most Community Ponds are patrolled by both the DWR and Local Police Officers.
