Sooo.... Me and the wife decided to head up to the "Mini Lake Powell" she calls it this past weekend. She went for the sun an beach, I went for the fish! Turns out I got a little bit more sun then she did tho Wink.

The weather turned out to be AWESOME! Probably one of thee best Starvation trips in the past few years up there. Wind blew a little bit Sunday night and Monday morning as a storm rolled in. Temps were between 70-90 degrees during the day. Water was glass most of the weekend with a few boaters in the cove. Nothing to major tho. Place wasn't to packed, we managed to find a spot. After we went over to Indian Bay for a night, got into a confrontation with a few other campers over there and decided to go where their were less people! Indian Bay was SLAMMED!

I fished anywhere from 10-30ish feet. Most all the smaller perch were closer to the bank. The Walleye came from about 15' of water off the RC! That jig was catching fish all day long. I only caught the one Walleye unfortunately. But was having more fun with the "Starvation Steelhead" anyways. Man do those Bows know how to fight! I lost 2, drug in a total of 3, all within 18-19 inches. Had the Line snap right at the swivel on one, Bent the hook to a 90 on the second after getting it within about 10 feet to me and 5 minutes of fighting the bugger and 10 jumps out of the water. Not to mention wrapping itself vigorously around my second line I had out! Made for an interesting time. but was still a hoot! Caught two bows on the RC, & one on just dropping a worm and power bait 4' off the bottom to keep out of the perch.

All In all, made for an awesome weekend and can't wait to go back for some more!
Go Vikes! Nothing better than a great weekend lots of fish and a fellow vikings fan good on ya

nice report and pics. i took the kids up to the same place same time after a good tip from tube dude on a easy place to put the kids age 7 an 10 in a tube for the first time. we fished and camped in rabbit gulch we fished the noth shore line to wards the end of the camping area. totally slammed the perch the kids were hooked up on one after another we used small white jigs tipped with worms. the big perch were found in 24 to 28 foot hanging just above the grass . and yes the wind never did come up to hard. we fished straight down off the belly boats like we were ice fishing[cool]. made super sweet hook ups for the kids. never caught any eyes worth keeping and never did try for the slimers. those perch had the kids hooked up[fishin]. the only bad thing about the week end was dad left the camera at home [mad]. i did snap off 2 disposable cameras just need to go to get pic the old fashion way. sorry no pics to go with report.

Ahhh man. The little perch are out in full force up there. I couldn't keep then off anything I threw at them. Even the big stuff! They would just take the worm and be gone! I probably went through at least 3 dozen worms that trip. I'm not complaining one bit! Catching baby perch is much better then catching nothing at all! Great experience for new people, big and small, to get into the sport of fishing. Perch are fun, but I'd rather be tacklin a slimer over perch.

Nice post man. Sounds like you got on top of a school or two. Me thinks I reconnoiter some of them thar jigs ya be pitching! Had the honor of "meeting the man" yesterday and touring the works, finally dragged Lavaman down for a venture.
What I craftsman - I do say. I thought his posts were inspirational! Picked up some bling and sparkle of my own - look forward to getting on the water and doing some jigging. Think we'll have to consider a Starvy venture sometime this summer.

Sounds like the camping situation can get kinda crazy? But for me - the distance - seems like an overnight would be the way to go.

Thanks for the post bud!
I can say, all of TD jig's that I have got from him, have produced numbers of fish and are showing very little wear if any at all. On the RC jig, the paint is wearing off the hook is all. But that's not necessarily a bad thing Wink Thanks TD again for all the jigs and advise. I would love to come by and get some more off of you one of these days.

You said you got into a confrontation in one of the areas, you didn't happen to walk into a Packer's camp with your Viking Logo did you? [Wink]

[cool][#0000ff]You know the way. Welcome anytime.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The red finish on most red hooks is just anodized and will wear off. But that usually indicates some "encounters" of the fishy kind. Like you say...not all bad.[/#0000ff]
