I know there is a lake with either pike or muskie in cache valley. My boy is dieing to get one. are they pike or muskie up there? Also, I was planning on just trolling some spoons with perch meat. Will that work or do I need to try somthing else?

Newton. If they are hungry, they will bite a ton of different things.

Newton for sure. They are Muskie and FRIEND is correct I've had them hit almost anything. Be careful with the size of perch meat you use. I get hit up by fish and game every freaking time I go to Newton! Which actually I don't mind. If you can't catch Muskie try for the A Hole skiers that don't care about anyone or anything!
They fight like crazy. Muskie is nothing compared to a hooked, overly amped teenager!

Good notes from both them boyz. No Pike up here (Yuba).
Newton and Pineview (not too far from CV) haveTiger Musky, sterile hybrid. C&R only! And 1 inch limit on cut-bait.
There are also Walleye in the rivers/marshes - but you couldn't prove it by ME! (working on it!)
You can "wash lures" - but might do better to cast and cast and cast. Those fish are 'experienced' and they'll chase more than they'll bite - expect you'd find. Sometimes changing speed and/or direction will motivate a strike.
Make sure you've got a decent set of pliers!
i have always done well out there trolling rapalas behind the boat they are every where and like the others said when they are hungry they will heat anything my favorites are the perch patterned rapalas about six inches long. one of my buddys swears by drifting and casting with rapalas
