[#000000]Cabo Fish Report[/#000000]
[#000000] July 4-10, 2011[/#000000]

[#000000][#000000]WEATHER: [/#000000][#000000]Warm. Need more information, well all right. Our morning lows have beenin the low 80's and the daytime highs in the high 90's. We had verylittle wind this week but did have quite a bit of cloud cover earlyin the week with sunny skies from Thursday on to the end of the week. We had a pretty good shower on Monday and that was the end of therain.[/#000000][/#000000]
[#000000][#000000] WATER: [/#000000][#000000]The water was 82-84 degrees almost everywhere you could go, on thePacific side that was everything in range inside the 1,000 fathomline and on the Cortez side it was all the water out to a distance of30 miles south of Cabo and 50 miles south of Punta Gorda and eastwardas far as you could travel. Once you got past five miles off thebeach on the Cortez side the water was blue, inside it was justslightly tinged with green. The swells were decent size at 3-6 feetbut there was very little wind on top of them and they were spacedwell apart.[/#000000][/#000000]
[#000000][#000000]BAIT: [/#000000][#000000]Mackereland Mullet were easy to get this week at the normal $3 per bait, there were no Sardinas and only a few Mackerel to be had.[/#000000][/#000000]
[#000000] FISHING:[/#000000]
[#000000][#000000]BILLFISH[/#000000][#000000]: Well, thing are constantly changing on the ocean and as the warmwater moved into our area the Billfishing changed a bit as well. Weare still seeing Striped Marlin close to home, as a matter of factone of the boats hooked two Striped Marlin within 100 meters of LandsEnd on Wednesday. Most of the Striped Marlin have been very close tohome, but there are not the numbers we were seeing last week, andthey are not as hungry. What we are seeing more of is Blue Marlin. A boat caught one over 600 pounds this week and quite a few smallerones between 200 and 300 pounds were released. Not that they werecaught by every boat out there, no it's not that easy! But therewere Blues to be had if you were in the right place using the rightstuff. Most of the action on these Blue Marlin occurred between 5and 25 miles out, around the Tuna. Naturally they were followingtheir bait![/#000000][/#000000]
YELLOWFIN TUNA: Not much of a change from last week as far asthe Yellowfin are concerned. Between 5 and 25 miles to the south andsouthwest, find the porpoise and you were getting bit. The porpoisewere all over the p[lace, finding the right pod to work was the key. The white bellied porpoise were moving fast and it was hard to getbit in them, but the spotted porpoise were easier to work and thefish were a bit more co-operative. Smaller lure in dark colorsworked great on these fish that averaged 15 pounds, with large onesreaching 30 pounds. There were a few big ones caught as well, fishthat reached over the 100 pound mark, but they were not in among thesmall ones.
[#000000]DORADO: Dorado continue to come into ourarea and there are some nice ones out there! We had a young clientwho caught his first one the other day, it was Saturday, and the fishweighed just over 60 pounds! Now he is spoiled for life and probablyexpects every one he catches to be that large! Not every boat isbringing home Dorado, but the ones that are getting them are catchingnice ones. Most of the action has been out past the 5 mile area, andon the Cortez side of the Cape.[/#000000]
[#000000]WAHOO: Once again I did not hear of anyWahoo being caught this week.[/#000000]
[#000000] INSHORE: Roosterfish to 60 pounds,Amberjack, Jack Crevalle, Bonito, Grouper, Snapper, all the inshorefish are showing in the reports this week. The ones not there arethe cooler water fish such as Yellowtail and Sierra. Slow trollinglive bait is the key to getting most of the fish except the bottomspecies, and those were biting on butterfly jigs.[/#000000]
[#000000]FISH RECIPE: My recipe has been taking toomuch space so if you want to see it, check out my wordpress blog alittle later in the week, or subscribe to the blog and you willreceive an email as soon as I post it. Sorry about this last weeksno show, I got busy and forgot![/#000000]
[#000000]NOTES: Early morning, the birds chirping, just finished watering the garden after returning from the marina. The sun is just coming up and it is 83 degrees and humid! Reminds meof Guam! My music choice this week was a mix of classics with someHumble Pie, Jethro Tull, 10 Years After and Grand Funk Railroad, wow, really takes me back! [/#000000]
[#000000]Until next week, tight lines![/#000000]
