Only a couple months left before opener so a few buddies and i teamed up and tackled the garage last night. What you're looking at is something like 35 dozen decoys, mallards, pinnys, wigeon, teal GHG geese floaters and full bodies, DSD lesser Canadians and many many snow geese shells and full bodies. Also in our holy grail are six layout blinds, four mojos and a layout boat. Can't wait for October [

I'm showing that pic to my wife. I need her to understand this is normal behavior. You have me trumped big time but I get a hard time about my tuff shed that is full of decoys. Impressive!

of course it's normal. Girls just don't seem capable of comprehending the reason we still need more decoys even after the garage is full. In our defense though, three guys store their decoys here, all of which are hard core waterfowlers.

And
I thought I was bad with all my tubes, toons and fishing gear.[

Wow that seems like overkill

I had my best goose hunting of my life last year with a dozen hard bodies. I think its more location than having six dozen decoys

I'm only teasing

This is exactly what my wife sounds like ha ha. Did you sneak on here without telling me?

Overkill is the appropriate word. I was told once you either need to be hunting over three decoys or six dozen. You either need to stand out in high pressure areas with a minimal spread or you try and compete with real birds with a huge spread Canada style. Being on the X trumps knowledge, calling skill, and quality equipment every time! And this is just our hunting gear, not the fishing equipment [

Like I said I was only teasing. I've just never had the need to pack that many decoys out, (private property) That is an awesome set up and I'm sure you could get great results if there is a big number of birds in the air. You really got me excited for the hunts to come. First things first for me though, muzzle loading [

] Good luck this year

and to you! School gets in the way of my muzzy hunts [frown]

that almost looks like my shed but your stuff is all neat my still a mess but my wife know when hunting season start she never see me from 1 sept. to march 10 i can not wait till season start 15 more days till dove season.

That is a pretty sweet spread. But I have honestly found that to get a huge spread out the most efficient setup is about 200 silohuettes with 2-3 dozen full bodies mixed in. Out on the water the silohuettes actually look more realistic because they blend down into the water like a real fowl does.
Good hunting to you!!

I've seen guys that use silhouettes out on the GSL with great success. The next toy on my waterfowl list is an 18' excel boat with a 45hp surface drive on it to get me out on the big lake, my 14' flat bottom just won't cut it!

Yeah with that set up I am hunting out on pin tail flats directly west of Willard Bay.
For the swamps right behind my house I only ever pack out 12 floaters. 7 standard decs and 5 teal.
Getting out on the open water can be a blast if the birds are flying. If they aren't flying, you might as well strip down and get a sun tan!
