This will be my first trip to Fish Lake for macs, bows and splake, I have read through a lot of the forum for techniques for Fish Lake and I have a question on the vertical jigging. I read that you use strips of perch on a jig. I was wondering what depths one should be jigging and what size of jigs? 1 oz or 2 oz? spoons? I have fish lake Tahoe for macs and vertical jigged at pyramid lake for cutthroat. Got a boat with downriggers, so my first inclination would be troll with planner boards and downriggers with 9 to 12 in AC plugs / swimbaits but any advice beyond that would be great. Thanks

Hard to believe no one has replied to your post. I would think trolling with planer boards on Fish Lake would be a novelty (because it is a deep lake); however, if you are comfortable fishing that way go for it. The bows can be caught in the shallower water (probably less than 30' deep) and the splake are all over the water column. A good place to look for the splake is right on the edge of the weed line. I am guessing on the macks but I bet most of them are going to be on the bottom in water deeper than 60'. I would try jigs up to the size you have indicated and smaller. Try tipping with perch and also sucker and chub if you have access to them.
If anyone has any better information that I have feel free to correct any of my misinformation.
