Full Version: Ordering lures from China?

I'm looking to do fishing on a budget (Dick's special rod/reel combo for $15 has landed over a dozen muskie 44" or bigger so far), and I'm looking for inexpensive lures.

Has anyone ever ordered from any company overseas, specifically China? I'm going to assume the hooks aren't the best but who knows, easy and cheap to replace. Did everything go ok?

$8-$10 per lure hurts the wallet quickly. $1-$3 is more acceptable.

Thank you

why dont you try garage saling?

the majority of the lures on the shelf here in the good old u.s. of a. are made in china..

so I dont know what your driving at.

Remember, you get what you pay for, even in the china market. "especialy in the china market"
I agree with Dave T, I won some free lures that were made in China. Didn't run true and the paint was 3ed class. Good thing they were free. Expensive lures do get more fish for me. Lucky Craft comes to mind.

Tried garage sales, bunk of crap.

What I'm "driving at" is why pay $9 for a name brand lure that comes out of the same factory as the no name brands? Skip the store and brand markup, go straight to the source. When you see prices at $1 per lure which resells for 5-10x that price, it's nuts.

And I've caught fish on $1 Wal-Mart special spinnerbaits just as much as one that costs 5x that.

"Get what you pay for" is not hardly what it used to be. I can buy a $250 exhaust from China that is the same quality as a $600 exhaust from the US.....because I've done it. The China one actually fit better too. Considering so much of our stuff is made out of the US, I don't believe in that stupid saying any more. In fact, I wouldn't even buy a US car any more, they're all bloated pieces of crap.

to each his own,

once you learn the benefit of reting your lures after every battle with a big or toothied fish, you will see the value of using better grade lures.

I have lures in my box that have been producing fish for 30+ years..

untill then, enjoy your throw away lures.
I've landed enough toothy muskie. Even the eBay lures have been producing them with no drawbacks (aside from replacing the hooks......a whole $0.75 per lure). I've never lost a lure due to a fish, just the unexpected lovely snag here and there. Glad you know everything about me!

But thanks for offering no advice, and basically baiting someone into an argument. *thumbs up*

Ease up Jaron, you asked the question. I have bought spinnerbaits from china and it took three weeks to get here. The skirts fell off after the second trip. If I could find the quality control that better companys have over there , I'd buy again. But it would be real hard I think to get a quality bait, made in the same factory over there for a top brand name. Might be a second. If you can get a connection, let us know.

before china ever showed up on the market, we were using pencil lures.

go out and find your self a nice streight branch about the diamiter of your pinky up to your index finger.

get your self some eye screws, some eye loops and some trebble hooks and a little paint. you can make your own.

shave the bark off, cut the front side at a 27-45 degree angle to make it dive or round to make it a top water pencil plug.

green with yellow spots or stripes works best. "perch / frog"

total cost to you for this lure, 1.50 - 3.00 depending on the hooks you use.

If your waiting for us to tell you what you want to hear, this is not the place to come, we will give you the best information as per our combined experiences. WE do not always agree on this site, nor do we want to. we are her to share our experiences.

If you are here for us to give you a source for a place to buy bulk on the china market, again you have come to the wrong place. any lures from any sourse that is advertised here needs to go though our advertising department by clicking on the links on the bottom of our pages

If your just shopping, your better off going to Kmart Wallmart Target, any of those shops will carry those inexpencive lures. some times they will carry the better quality lures for a lesser price.

To be honest, may times I will go to my own hand made lures over anything else. Wich is why I say to each his own.

Sounds like you have already made up your mind about all this...is there a question in all of this or did you just need to put down the USA?

Look for estate sales and you can find some of what Dave T is talking about. Tackle that grandpa had and they do not know what to do with so they sell it to me for a few bucks...if those lures could only talk!
