Last few weeks there hasn't been much to write about or anything considered picture-worthy except for these gems.

Always a good time going out even when the catching is slow, I consider it my 'therapy'.

Addendum: all carp and mudders were taken care of accordingly, as I always try to do my part in the never-ending trash removal process.

You like to eat bullheads from cutler?

Personally, I wouldn't say I LIKE to eat the Bulls the way I DO the Channels, but - I've tried a number of mud-buddies too, and they've been quite fine. None of the 'grey' lateral line to contend with for one. But certainly not the size fillets you can get from the cookies.

That's a nice one Colton yanked out Lava. Did you get a measure? Is HE in first now? Mighty big gloves there! The others look like some good cookies. Wonder if our shallow cats'll be moving back to the depths as spring 'finishes' up?

So - we gonna smoke that carp for ya? Or you making bait-strips? Look forward to getting back out there - I'll be running the smoker this weekend. Time to get a-brinin'!
Colton's was nice for sure, but I'm still in the lead with just over a month to go. That one posted was taken in Ben's boat about a month ago.

(Good thing Ben and TD didn't join our side-bet).

Funny thing with that Carp today- not 5 seconds after throwing that carp up on the bank, an Oriental Gentleman hollered at me asking if I was "going to keep it".

Hey, had to test the sharpness of my knife point so I wasn't about to give up that nasty carp.

Good times.

I never said there was anything wrong with it, I just asked if he liked it.

I was wondering why he was answering you when you directed that to me lol

No, I've never tried eating them Mud Cats. Not sure I want to.

[cool][#0000ff]Nice work HGS. Glad to see you have learned how to properly "treat" carpkind.[/#0000ff]

You would beat me on that bet this summer anyways, especially since I am gone and not fishing as much as I would like this summer. But we will have to do something over the ice season - that is if you are good for it.

Sorry Capn - just chiming in with my opinion, cuz -well - I'm full of them. Plus figured Lava hadn't tried one. Never said there was anything bad about them (except they annoyingly steal your bait when targeting Channels!). Further I know he's hardly one to even cook the cookies. Been full of those muds cats, and they did taste a bit different from the channels, but not bad - just smaller.
I do think they get a bad rap. And your HGP has testified to their ediblitable-ness. Don't think they are worth punk-kicking or puncturing, IMHO.

Did mean to say - good on ya (or your boy) on that Cubbies hat. I can say that since in Chi-town right now. But flying back to SLC tomorrow.
