Anyone have any reports from Henrys Lake or Island Park Res? Boating, tubing, or bank fishing will do as I'll be doing a little of everything most likely.

i was at Henrys on the 10th of July and with the amount of bugs on the water and in the boat, we had a hard time catching anything, but a sunburn.

I would be very interested in this info. also since we're headed to Island Park Res. this weekend. Hope someone has been catching something even if its a cold.

My uncle and I fished Henry's last Saturday over by the cliffs. We were out on pontoon boats throwing streamers and didn't have any action whatsoever from 9:00-11:00. It looked like there were quite a group of guys at the mouth of the creek that flows in to the lake (sorry, I don't know the lake all that well to know what the name of the creek is). The creek was between the county boat dock and the cliffs.

With it being so slow I hope I'm not wasting my time going that way.
Rexburg Rabble, if you have some free time next week let me know.

You might be talking about duck creek. I have never done well on streamers. Sometimes we equait big fish with big flies but in the case of Henrys go small most of the time.
At this time of year I would try the copper crystal and green crystal bugger, damsel patterns, Bills Mighty Mouse and scud patterns. I'm not an expert on Henrys by any means and have been skunked my share of times. I just have never done well on streamers.

Island Park Res. is slow . The lake is a mess because of all the wind . The fishing is best in the side channels where the wind has less effect and the water stays clear . If you can get to Trudes Bay you will catch a few . Curt G.

Thanks for the info. on IP Res. wil try Trudes this weekend and let ya know if we have any luck. Fish have probably gone deep due to the heat so may end up chuckin garden hackle.

Yes, please let us know how you do. I'll fish it no matter what, but now I'll know what to expect a bit.

I fished it 14 of the last 20 days . We caught fish in water from 12 to 25' . Early in the morning they are shallow and as the sun moves more over head they move deeper . We did best on the small colored mashmellows you buy in the grocery store and nightcrawler . I had too many people in my boat to troll , but the people trolling around us were catching some also . Between the full moon and the wind I think it hurt the fishing . If we get a couple of calm day so the lake can settle down, and I think fishing will pick up . I have to work this weekend but will be back up there 29,30,31 and August 1 . Curt G .

Thanks Curt. Any idea why the colored marshmallows work better?

We have tried the ones made for fishing that are expensive and usually work well , but the store bought ones have been working better . The pink ones have been working best , but we have caught them on any color . Also if you have a worm blower , inflate your nightcrawler so if your mellow melts off your bait will stay off the bottom . Curt G.

I am assuming you are talking about IP when you say Trolling AND 25' deep.
That is good to hear though.
As for Henry's..All I can recommend is Black and Orange. Denny Rickards style. Type II and an Intermediate line.

Yes I am talking Island Park Res. I have never found a spot on Henry's over 23' . There are several spots that are 21' when the lake is full like it is now . They are trolling Henry's in the deeper sections the moss isn't bad at all . The water Temp is about 6 degrees colder than normal , and the nights have been very cold . Last night it was 33 degrees . Fished IP Res. last weekend and had reasonable luck. West end water clarity is a mess and warm with nobody bendin rods. Finally went up the Henrys inlet to clearer water and scored two nice fat Kokes and some small rainbows on rapalas. So many jet skis and water skiers its unreal where those rude so & so's afford those craft.

Someone is going to get killed in the area of the lake where Millcreek Boat Dock is . The river is narrow and has several S turns and to many Water Skiers and Jetskis are using it to stay out of the winds we been having . Then you put several boats trolling down the center . Someone is going to get hurt Bad. Curt G.

And the stupid thing is, it is going to take that to happen before something is done.
The officials or persons in charge really need to learn that old "Ounce of Prevention...." rule, don't you all think?

You would think that after the water skiing accident and death on Ririe Res. it would slow them down when they approach smaller craft and fisherman but "NOT" cause they don't care about their wake on others as long as its bigger than theothers. watch out and be aware.

I definitely agree with you!
