Last couple trips to D.C. on the tube.
From my twin....
"We have the same first name! Maybe your our long lost triplet???? Glad to see someone is catching some fish up there at Deer Creek. I noticed those who were catching fish (a catch rate of 2 fish for 3hrs) were using plastics (green and orange) on the bottom. That is why I probley did not catch anything there on Wenesday. I tried a Blue Fox spinner for the trout on my 1st pole and the good old worm under the bobber on the 2nd pole for the bluegill and got skunked. I have been fishing at Deer Creek several times this year and just cant get a strike. Fishing off the bottom is well.....boring to me. Maybe one day I will convert to Drop Shot / jigging but I personally prefer the action of the spinner. Thanks for the report Trevor and see you out on the water."

[cool][#0000ff]We all have our preferred places and methods of fishing. But sometimes ya gotta loosen up a bit and adapt to changing conditions. I know guys who fish the same way (run and gun spinnerbaits) all year long. They catch bass in the spring and fall but blame their skunkiness the rest of the year on the moon, the weather, waterskiers or whatever. It couldn't be that they are fishing in the wrong area to find bass or that they are using the wrong gear.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]What I am saying is that your preferred ways of fishing Deer Creek can be very effective...when water temps are cooler and there is not as much "activity" on the water. Most of the trout go deeper during the warmer summer months and you need to use gear and techniques to find them. If you don't like that kind of fishing then work the warm water species with shallower methods until it cools off in the fall again.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Good luck.[/#0000ff]

From my twin...
"1st off let me say, Hello Tubedude, it is a pleasure talking with the man that so many people on this site follow religiously. When my twin and I backcountry ski there is a famous man known as the Wizard of the Wastach aka Bob Athey and I swear you are becoming the Wizard of the Wasatch Waters here in Utah.
I hear you TD.....I left all my tube jiggs at home (1st big mistake) and I can personally attest to the fact that there are fish to be caught at that lake. Spinners are only effective when the Trout are running shallow/medium depth and as for worm under the bobber....that was just an attempt at getting lucky with the bluegills or a carp. I have read so many library books on fishing (as well as getting out there nearly as much as you) that I know when to use what, for what type of fish. Sometimes my stubborness outweighes my logic though and Wednesday was definitely one of those days. Still....without a fish finder, Deer Creek is definitely one of the tougher places to fish here in Utah....Maybe that is why so many old locals up there love their spot so much? As for me...I prefer the places that I know better (Current Creek, Mantua, Rockport, Utah Lake, Tibble Fork ect....) With as much as we get out (and the shear size of your Floattube) we are bound to run into each other...and when that day comes we'll be sure to keep a safe, tolerable distance (referring to your Willard close encounter the other day). As for fishing Deer Creek...I am not trying again until fall....so I guess the fish can sleep easier at night now.

[cool][#0000ff]Thanks fer the kindly comments.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I am sure you know enough to fish your favorite waters at different times and under different conditions. But I thought it would be a good time to make mention of the need to have different tackle and techniques available during different times of the year. Seems like every time I go fishing I see folks using spring tactics for summer fish...or vice versa. I really hate to see that when there are kids in the boat and they are disappointed that they are not catching fish...and the old man is clueless to help them.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Kinda reminds me of the old joke about some guy down on his hands and knees looking around in the grass. A friend spies him and asks what he is looking for. He said he dropped his keys and needs them to get in his car. So the friend gets down with him and they keep looking. After while the friend asks "[/#0000ff][#0000ff]Are you sure this is where you dropped them?" The first guy says "No, I dropped them over there, but the light is better here."[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Unfortunately, that is how a lot of guys fish. They would rather catch nothing...fishing the way they want to...than to make a change just to catch a stupid fish.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]See ya on the water someday. How will I recognize you? Your pics are so vague about your appearance. Dat's cool.[/#0000ff]

Great report, thanks for posting it, below is a little info on posting your pics.
A few years back BFT utah had a rule in place that did not allow pictures that were larger than 750KB or so because most people had a dial up internet connection. That changed with DSL but we still don't care to see members posting pics larger than 2MB. Attached is an easy resizing tool that will help with resizing your pics.
