Just got back into the game and have had a couple goes at using method feeder on an old carp rod I had. Really enjoy the excitment of using a feeder so am going buy myself a rod fit for purpose, seen the drennan series 7 11ft method which feels good, appreciate any views on it. Has three tips I think, 1,2 and 3 oz, using it on the water I fish on ie, small private max 25/30 yards cast does one use the 3oz tip for this, water has mainly mirrors and commans in mid teens, however been told there is a 25lb plus but not been out for last 2 years!. Will be using 8lb line 10-12,s hook etc, the drennan is a two piece rod which is what I need, any advice much appreciated.

if your targeting a 25 pound carp, I sugest that you double your line to 15 lb. test.

I would also go with nothing smaller than a number 4 steel mustad.

those big carp did knot get big by being wimps. I have seen them strip gears in reels, break rods, streighten hooks, stetch line till is sings in the wind or snaps, yank whole rigs in to the drink.

Carp are battle fish with out a doubt, to put it short they are a freight train on steroids and when they want to run, you had better let them.

8lb will give you all the action you want to handle with carp up to 12-15 lbs, but when you hit the 20lb and up class, you are talking a new ball game.
