Hows the fishing out at McTucker Ponds?
Also anyone know the easiest way out there from Pocatello?
I am looking to head out there with my family, so I want somewhere that we are likely to catch a few fish...
Or if you know of anyother hot spots not too far from poky..please post...we normally just fish from the banks, we dont have a boat

Thanks in advance

I don't know on McTucker Ponds, but another option out there is Crystal Springs Pond. It is regularly stock and has a couple of fishing docks.

Where is that located?

I haven't heard any good reports on Mctucker ponds in the last few months. I know they were flooded out they may still be under water.

I agree that crystal springs should be a better location depending on how long ago it was stocked. I would fish early in the morning or late evening in this heat for the best results. Last time I was there the kids did great with just a small piece of worm and a garlic sented marshmellow.

Check the fish and game stocking reports.

Crystal Springs is past snake river and kind of by pingree if I remember correctly.

It is just north of McTucker Ponds. About half way between McTucker and the Springfield Highway. From the Highway you turn south on 1800 W (Judge Rd) And then turn West on Edwards Rd. It is right close to there. There are some buildings in front from the fish hatchery and the parking lot and bathrooms are right beside it.

That is bad news on the car! Was the sink hole in the McTucker area? I know that a lot of it got flooded.

Me and my brother took his daughters out to mctucker a couple weeks ago and did good. As long as you stay on the main roads it's fine. We fished the first pond on the left. His daughters just dropped a small chunck of worm strait in the water and caught alot of blue gill. Nothing big so you have to use a small hook and worm. We floated around and didnt catch anything over 6 or 7 inches. I do hear ther are some decent bass in there though. As far as crystal springs goes I haven't tried it since this spring but we didn't catch a thing and last year we couldn't keep them off the hook. But maybe it's gotten better with the warm weater.

I went with my son and grand daughters last week end. We normally fish pond 4 and pond 8. Usually do well on 4 for trout, not even a bite. Caught a few perch on pond 8. Pond 7 we got into some small sunfish, around four to six inch in size. Catching them pretty much every cast. The grand daughters were loving it. Seen a big ole catfish patrolling the shore line and seen a lot of carp rollin near the shore line in pond four and seven. Lot of water there right now. Watched a guy on a four wheeler drive right off the road into the pond. Helped fish him out and he went around to the other side and did it all over again, go figure.

I once helped push a guy out of a snowy ditch and back onto the icy highway. He gunned it and went right into the other ditch. Then I remembered an urgent appointment I had somewhere else.
