Hey all, new to the site. Looks like a good way to chat with fellow fisherman and find out wheres good!
Just got back recently from Johnson Creek, near Yellow Pine ID. Awesome trip, most Westslope Cuts. caught were in the 16 to 18 inch range. My biggest was 20 inches. Most caught on drys but caught several on a dry with dropper. Beautiful fish and awesome country.
Heres some pics.

Welcome to the site.
Those are some very nice fish and looks like a great area. Thanks for sharing your trip. What kind of drys were they hitting?
Thanks!

Something I have always kind of wondered about is how do you get to Yellow Pine? It looks like all of the roads are little and dirt. Are any better than the others? Thanks!

Wow beautiful trip. Welcome to BFT.
There are no rules about this written or unwritten, but I would be careful naming creeks in posts. Whenever I fish creeks I choose to report on them, show the pics, the beauty etc... , but I leave out the name just because many of them can't take much pressure. Just something to think about.
We hope to hear from you often in the future.

mostly parachute adams, elk hairs, stimulators, and a few hopper but id bet they would be pretty good right now being that the season is late

windriver, i know the general rules but it is so cool up there and I couldnt reist sorry [crazy] but ill try to refrain! it is nice to give a nice report now and then though. it is catch and release and evryone that is wondering they are awesome more elusive!

Gotta agree with you, Trout Man. I love Johnson Creek. I remember as a child watching huge chinook plying the waters there. Great post and welcome to the site! Hope to hear lots more from you. Mike

That is such a beautiful area up there, with so many great streams! It has been forever since I have been up that way, but we have been thinking of doing a loop through there again to see the country. The last time I was up that way the roads were pretty rough. Hence I am curious is they have improved them any or if we just go in on the wrong ones!!!
I knew already that all or almost all of the streams up there are catch and release only so I didn't think anything about naming. They are a more the size of small rivers than creeks.
It is just good to hear some reports from that area. Thanks for sharing your trip!

Thanks for the great report. Good to see that the cutthroat population up there is still healthy. Idaho flyfishing the way it was meant to be!

i might make some people mad with this but i appreciate you naming the creek. I am at college here in idaho and have no idea where streams are and good places to fish. i am a die hard fisherman and rely on on info that others give and fishing reports and plan my weekends around these. yes i try to get out and find places on my own but i am a broke college student who really doesnt have tons of time to go out and search. so far i have met alot of people that are awesome and help me out whether its giving me directions or telling me areas to fish. IMO there isnt and insanely large amount of people on Bft and the fishing reports online would account for people overfishing a creek. but hey thats life.

I don't think it is a rule here, but, own digression. PM's can be fun and full of details.
I know this spot and agree on the beauty, however, I absolutely, I agree with Windriver on pressure killing a great spot. Pictures and PM's can achieve the same goal in a more controlled count. Remember, there can be 100's non registered reading this.
You could go back a week later to see it has forever changed...[

] First and last shot the same fish out of curiosity?

I understand your argument and am always willing to help where I can. That is why specific information about small streams should be passed in PMs. In this case the stream is really not that small and fairly remote, and catch and release. So there is little chance that it would adversly effect the stream to post.
On the other hand your argument that BFT is small and it really wouldnt be able to fish out a stream doesn't hold water. You posted your message at 3:20 there were 54 views by 8:18. If I told a specific spot on a specific stream and three of those people happen to be looking for a spot to take there kids tomorrow it really could effect not only the fishing on that stream but the fish population on a specific stretch of stream.
Many of the streams that I fish are no more than 4-6' across. The fish are only in certain holes and the bigger fish are far and few between. I have no problem pointing someone in the right direction, but I also can't post a specific location on the open board.
Just my two cents. I know everybody has different opinions on this and that is fine.

was up there earlier this week. beautiful area, but if you go, be careful to look out for salmon redds. the stream cant handle a bunch of pressure as is, but if people go up there and tromp around without realizing it could be devastating to the native nooks...watched several pods pushing up-awesome...
awesome pics, fished some of the same spots and had success with caddis as well

Good caution on the salmon redds. I don't fish up in the Salmon River Drainage enough to automatically be thinking of that at this time of year, and a reminder is always welcome. Thanks for mentioning it.

i really didnt mean anything from my post. i can see both sides and understand both. i have little gems that i dont share much in PA. what i mean more or less is that i am appreciative toward people who post, as i learn more about idaho and where to fish. i respect both sides of the issue.

I am sure you didn't mean anything and information is BFT's middle name. You can still get it only more one on one through PM's.
I agree, post pictures gets the interest more than anything.
I use to like to fish lake C, but not any more, and I am sure it is because of the internet.
Again, this is beautiful country and love the eye candy...good job Trout.
