...fish that I've ever caught...I was up on the Buffalo River for a few days...this was the avg. size of the brookies up there...I was using a renegade...was actually a challenge trying to hook set these little guys.

No doubt...missed more than I caught...you have got to be quick on the hook set ..my timing was off..haha...good practice though.

You know how many back cast have sent those guys airborne....Sometimes I actually target these.

Cute little bugger. I love how my fly will jump out of the water when a little trout tries to slam it from below. If there are a bunch after it, it looks like my fly is doing some kind of two stepping hop dance across the water. And yes they are easy to backcast! [laugh][laugh]

its quite annoying when you have one on your back cast and find a tree about 10 feet of the ground with it. i felt to guilty just leaving them up there so it has lead to an experience or two that would be fitting of McMannus

He looks a lot bigger when you hold him close to the camera like that. What did he weigh, about 10lbs? Did you catch him in Hawkins in 1998? [cool]

You got to admire the effort those little guys make to attempt to eat a fly that must seem like a Thanksgiving turkey to them. Catching a fish like that might actually be statistically less likely than catching a 14 incher. Nice work. I also hate when I backcast them into the the bushes. Thanks for the cool post.

Oh...I forgot...I also caught a few using a "F" fly that I tied myself (size 16 or 18)...easy basic fly that only has thread and CDC feathers..First dry that I learned to ty...so cool when you catch something that you tied yourself!

Great, Untangler! I nearly choked!!

But ain't it just a hoot to catch those little suckers?! Nothing like an evening on the lower Buffalo with those little nippers everywhere.

Not being a fly fisherman I must admit my bait is a little larger than that (not making fun of any mans' fish). I never caught one like that but sometimes when I drink too much I buy a can of them....sardines? All fish are fun fish....Mike [Wink]
