Going on 6 months of deployment now with only time to think about wetting my next line has really got me thinking about targeting trophy trout. I've landed several rainbows in 5-6lb class (not in Idaho) and seen a few in the 8-9lb class, but never anything over 10. If you don't mind sharing, where do you think the best place to target a 10+lb trout south of McCall would be? I'm planning a trip in late September and this will be my goal. I'm thinking Henry's or one of the Yellowstone area lakes. Of course with the fish American Falls just kicked out that's a possibility too.

Don't hear of many 10ers coming out of Henry's, but this could be the year. I would think American Falls also after the news lately.

Don't forget late September, early October the browns start running up the Wood River by Hot Springs on the north end of Magic and there are some 10lb + fish in there, my biggest are a 10lb and 81/2 lb, both on the fly rod.

Thanks for your service! I really appreciate the sacrifice you and your family make to keep us free!
Any of the dams that have Browns below them will give you the possibility of catching a trophy in the fall as they move up to spawn. I'd like to encourage those that do target them to avoid the Reds and target moving and staging fish!
