I'm looking for a spot to catch some bass, any type really. It needs to be shore access as I don't have a boat. I hear there were some good spots down near American Falls, but I'm not too familiar with that area. I'm from Rexburg and am just getting kinda tired of the 5 inchers I pull out of Ririe. Anybody got any tips?

my wife pulled in about a pound and a half bass out of ririe sunday. so even though there are a lot of small ones there, there are some big ones hidding out waiting for the right cast or drift.

I would recomend the snake river from Gem Lake on down. I haven't had much chance to really work it over, but I can usually catch a couple around Shelly. Without a boat I'm a little short for many suggestions beyond that until you get down to American Falls area. Another option would be any of the small reservoirs around Preston.

I agree with Belasko. The Snake River from below Idaho Falls down to Hells Canyon is really turning into being a pretty good smallmouth fishery. The lakes around the Preston area are good for largemouth fishing. However, they get hit pretty hard by everyone from southeast Idaho and northern Utah. Be aware there is a 12" general length limit on most waters, a 16" on Glendale and 20" length limit on Condie Res. and a slot size limit on Weston Reservoir. Be familiar with the regulations on the area's bodies of .
