anyone ever use one of these rods? if so what do you think?
i have never bought any rod that wasnt a redington but a local shop here in PA is going out of business and they had a 3 wt for 20 bucks that i just couldnt resist picking up. so far i have fished it 2 times and i am in love with it.

I don't own a crisium, but I'm happy with the Okuma spinning set up I have.

I don't have an Okuma rod, but I have 2 Okuma fly reels and I like them quite a bit. The Helios (yeah, just like the fancy Orvis rods) is an excellent reel for my needs. If you get it I'd like to know what you think.

Never used an okuma rod, but I have several Okuma reels on my kids fly rods and they work just fine for the price.

I don't have the rod, but I do have one of the reels and so far it has performed flawlessly.
If you like the rod's action and how it fishs, then it is a great one for you. A 3 wt is fantastic for small streams and panfish. That type of fishing usually doesn't involve long casts anyway. Short accurate lobs and snaps are more of the game.
I frequently fish a Cabelas' Three Forks rod that cost about $60 as a combo outfit. [laugh][laugh] It is a little 7.5 ft 3wt that works really well for streams. I love it for hiking and working small brushy streams. It can be very delicate and accurate in its casts and that is what matters. As brushy as some areas are, I think I would be a bit paranoid about breakage if I was using a $400 rod. [shocked]

90% of the fishing gear they make is of lower quality IMHO. Quality costs. The exception would be the Makaira reels they build in conjunction with Tiburon and the new Andros reels.
Those two reels are really nice with the Makaira's being the best value in ocean reels.

There is no doubt that they are lower quality, but it just depends what you want them for. I put the okuma reels on my kids rods because they just need something to hold line for their stream rods. It wouldn't make sense to buy a more expensive set up for an 8 year old who slips and falls and bangs things on rocks. So far they have worked great for intro reels .

That is why it works ok for me too, because I am one of the ones who slips and falls and bangs things on the rocks too. Dang, but it is great to know I am growing younger all the time! [laugh][laugh]

almost all of my reels are okuma slv or integrity reels, which is what made me think to try out the rod. i have been out a few more times and man i love it. if anyone is looking into getting a setup for small streams in a 3 wt i reccomend the rod if you dont want to spend alot of money.
