Hello all,

just joined the forum and thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Josh and I live in Boise. I mainly fish in Southwest Idaho. Should be easy to spot me, I have a 20 foot G3 pontoon boat that I tow with a silver full-size Ford van. Oh, and I'll be in a wheelchair. [Wink] I'm looking forward to sharing fishing reports and pictures.

Thought I would go ahead and give a report on my latest outing. We fished CJ Strike, specifically the Snake River Arm, last Wednesday morning. We caught a handful of yellow perch and about the same amount of 10 inch smallmouth bass. I only caught one nice smallie, guessing it weighed about 3 pounds. My friend hooked into the biggest channel cat that I have ever seen in Idaho. It was about 32 1/2 inches and weighed approximately 18 pounds. Check out the pic.

Welcome to BFT and the Idaho forum. That is a nice cat. The largest cat caught from my boat was also on CJ Strike while we were fishing for sturgeon. It was probably only around 8 pounds or so. They don't put up much of a fight on a sturgeon rod with 80 pound line on it though.

Welcome to the site! I am one of the moderators for the Boise/SW Idaho area, and we always need more active members from this area. Nice cat. Boy, Strike has been tough this year. I am hoping the typically good trout fishing in late Sept./Oct. will be as good as it was last year. Again, welcome, and look forward to many reports from you. Mike

I also hope that the trout are there this fall. I'm down to a couple smokers worth of Kokes and sure do need my Fall quota of trout from C.J. to make it through the Winter. Been way too hot this summer for this old fart to get out and I've heard very few reports of good fishing here in the S.W. corner. Mike

I really wasn't aware of how good the trout fishing could be down there until last fall. I had some friends catch a few 20+ inchers just from the bank in the Air Force Park.

Seems to be a Fall fishery for carry-over stockers courtesy of Idaho Power. I think I'll dig out my warm clothes and see if they keep biting into the Winter..my wife likes 'em fried and I like 'em smoked. Just follow the boats and you should do pretty well...If you have any questions about catching them I would suggest that you ask Kodiak...he knows and doesn't mind sharing. Mike[Wink]
