Dr Phil had to be in Cookeville at 1:00 pm today, so our fishing trip was short and sweet. It didn't matter if we loaded the boat or not. Phil just loves being in the boat and riding down the lake. We quit fishing at 9:50 and all we had to show for it was 6 keepers, 1 small channel cat, 2 yellow bass, and 1 little bluegill. Oh, and about 20 throwback crappies.

We fished docks exclusively and never picked up more than 2 crappies on a single dock. Mostly it was little crappie or 1 keeper crappie and then we had to move. We caught several crappie that were just off the docks by about 5' or so. No sunlight so they weren't deep under the docks, but the fish were all deep. We let our 1/32 and 1/16 oz jigs go to the bottom, then pick them up and jig them back to the boat. Only 1 nice crappie hit the jig on the fall. I don't like this type of fishing when you have to beg the fish to bite.

I didn't have my depth finder or I would have been off shore where I know that I can find some decent fish. I should be getting it back or a new one from Lowrance this week.

2" Bobby Garland in albino shad and blue thunder worked the best today. I caught a few on ghastly minnow slab slayers and outlaw special scent wiggler. I kept 6 for dinner since I don't have any fish in my freezer except 2 or 3 bags of rockfish that Wanda won't let me cook just yet. She is saving them for hard times I guess. emoBig

emoGeezer
