I've heard and seen pics of good bass in there back in the day but nothing current. when we were up there we caught a ton of little ones and the biggest was this one right below, just over a pound I'd guess. so are the bass in there stunted and there are just a few that break through to a decent size? just seems like every other place we go there's a nice mix, PV has lots of small, medium and bigger bass, same with sand hollow, and the nelle.

My 2 cents, FWIW.
There have still been some nice LMB in there and with the water authorities keeping DC as high as they are while letting the Jordanelle level drop, we should see some nice LMB there over the next few years. The habitat in the Charleston end is quite nice right now.
The smallies have been another matter. During the prior decade of crummy water levels there, the smallies did get overpopulated and stunted IMO. All the skinny 8-10 inchers you can catch but almost no big ones, even with trophy regs in place for over a decade. It got old in a hurry. Now, the better water and accompanying food ought to help them too, but DC is a lake that could use a good bit of 10-12 inch smallie harvest IMO. Nevertheless, I am cautiously optimistic that we will see an improvement in the smallie size over the next couple of years. At least I hope so.[

Get your flippin stick and work the flooded brush in the north end, or throw a frog over the weeds and tell me how small the fish are !!! They are there, just not on the rocks.

Yep, you are right. And most of those big fish are LMB. Just as I said in my original post. I haven't seen nor caught very many big smallies in that class the last few years.

Hit Charleston this morning at 6:30am on my toon, caught some nice perch for dinner and 6 smallies, also 1 large mouth only 10". There are a lot of dink perch, but was able to get some nice ones.
It would be nice if the skiers would stay out in the middle.
