BODY RECOVERED IN APPARENT DROWNING AT ECHO BAY

OVERTON, Nev. - The body of a 19-year-old Las Vegas man who is believed to have drowned was recovered at 4 p.m. by Las Vegas Metro Police Search and Rescue divers in about 12 feet of water. The National Park Service began searching for the man when he was reported missing by friends around 12:30p.m. The man was swimming in the Echo Bay area of Lake Mead.Park rangers and National Park Service boating volunteers searched the area by boat. Las Vegas Metro Police Search and Rescue dive team searched underwater. The missing man's friends told park rangers that he was in ankle deep water when they last saw him. They say they turned and turned back and the man was gone. He wasn't wearing a life jacket. Park rangers don't believe alcohol played a role in the apparent drowning. The body has been turned over to the Clark County Coroner's Office who will determine the cause of death and make positive identification.

Man that's crazy how many of these pop up with no exPlanation.... Ankle deep??? That's crazy.... But doesn't surprise me, just the other day when we were at the lake fishing I saw a family pull up like 5 kids mom and dad guess who gets the life jacket??? Yeah dad wears one and the little kids are out deeper than him... Crazy... Maybe heat played a role in them something along the lines of heat stroke??? Hmmm

Just saw it on the news with the same story... They say alcohol wasn't a factor... I'm guessing because he is 19 they don't think he drank... My best guess is alcohol was a factor as well as dehydration causing him to lose conscious.... Or a big carp scared him into deep water lol... Nah just playing it's not a laughing matter but it is down right crazy!!! When we went fishing the other day I got a little whoozy for a minute until I downed a big bottle of water... Gotta be careful out there man it's brutal!!

or maybe the guy stubbed his toe and had a heart attack [:/] no seriously, if they think that alcohol was involved even a little bit, they would have said so. the whole story sounds suspect to me, doesnt make much sense.. if ur overheated and on ur way to full on heat stroke ur gonna feel like complete sh*t and prolly not gonna wanna swim very much.. most all of the bodies I have picked up at lake mead during my time with the coroners office were homicide, their were afew accidents that looked alot like homicide to me.. this kids friends may know more than they are giving up. the CCCO will figure it out
