My fishing day was actually on Friday but I headed down to Utah for some family fun at Lagoon and the zoo so getting in my report now.

So I started out my day at Alexander catching a bunch of the carp minnows that have over taken the lake. Figured if I didnt catch any fish on them for the day I could always restock my minnow supply. This was around 6AM or so.
I finally got to the power plant below Oneida about 730 or so and hooked up with a slmier almost immediately using a curly tail grub and a piece of worm. Forgot I had my camera so I didnt get a pic of the trout but thats how it goes. Normal cookie cutter planter size. It was about 15 minutes or so before my next hook up on the same rig which was this smallie that was probably about 2 pounds or so. It pulled hard with the current so was a good fight.
I had one more hit on the grub and it pulled like a Mac truck for about 10 seconds. Felt alot like a walleye tugging but never actually got a peek at it since I couldnt hardly budge it off the bottom.
I swapped over to the minnows around 830 or so and hooked up with another smallie that was just about the same size as the first, around 2 pounds. This one gave me a run for my money with its use of the current. Peeled me off several times and had me thinking it was much larger. Probably one of my best fighting fish of the year.
I ended up leaving around 930 to venture down below Preston to one of my walleye holes to try and get something hooked up with the minnows. I'm not sure if they had opened up the flows after I left the power plant or what but the water was high and murky with all sorts of debris floating around. Never even was able to keep my line in the water without having a huge glob of junk on my line.
So all in all for one of the few trips I have been able to get out on this year I had a great time.

Very nice smallies. I love those things. I hate when they open the gates and it becomes a scungy weed fest. If you don't get a fish in the first few seconds of your cast you're out of luck when it's like that [mad] Still, it sounds like I need to go smallie hunting up there soon. I've kind of neglected them this year.
