After fishing last weekends tx and only having 1 keeper and the winner weighing in 20lbs, and 2nd was 7lbs. We decided to run up river to the dam which was a long haul for a 6 hr tx but it was worth it. After we tried some topwater above Racoon Mtn before dark with no luck we headed to the dam. Jody caught the 1st 2 largemouth, before I finally got some action myself. We had four keepers by 11:30pm and started working our way back down river and the next fish we caught was a nice smallie that was just over 18in. Then I caught a 16in spot that culled. A few cast later Jody nailed a bigun, and when it jumped I new it was a smallie, she went every direction but to the net. We finally landed her and when I went to pull fish from the net the bait fell out. That was our final keeper and it culled the spot we had. We proceeded downsteam around suckcreek and caught a large drum and catfish which was fun to catch but the wrong species. Got to the ramp at 1:50am. We ended up 1st with 17lbs and the smallie weighed 4.08lbs, Ellis and Roy finished 2nd and barely beat us on big fish with a 4.10 lgm, boy that was close. We caught fish on jigs, spinnerbait, shakyhead, and texas rigged worm.
