Got to spend some time with my oldest son this weekend. We hit the Snake, below the lower power plant on Friday. As usual he out fished me catching several 12" to14" bows and one big sucker. I did manage to get into a couple small bows. There were some big ones jumping but nothing we could get to.
Monday we decided to give McTucker a shot, we had heard they replanted one of the ponds with trout so we thought we would take a trip and check them out. Took some small blue gill and a few chubs. Kind of slow till a kind gentelman told us to try another pond he was having some luck at. He showed what he had caught, he had four bass that were around 18" and trout that looked to be around four or five pounds. We went over and decided to flip some lures. On the first cast I hooked a little 12" bass and on subsequent casts took several more. There were some big ones jumping so my son took his kick boat out. About the third cast he made he hooked into a large trout that towed him around for a bit till it finally broke the line. He then commenced to lose two more that looked to be fairly large. He finally came in and we were getting ready to leave. He was a little discouraged and said he wanted to make one more cast so I told him OK I would start hauling stuff to the truck. About halfway there he let a woop and at first I thought he has slipped in the mud but then I seen the bend in his rod. After a pretty good tussle he finally landed one and it tipped the little green scale I have at just shy of 6 lbs. Nice fish. All in all it was a great way for my son to take a break from the family routine and for me to spend some QT with him.
