I have finally had the chance to fish the SF since the water dropped and its been great for me the past couple weeks. All of the still waters around Malad were fun but the SF is my favorite place to fish. For the most part I have been nymphing but have got some dry action on a couple days. Most fish have been browns and rainbows around 12"-14" with a few 16"-18" and a couple a little bigger than that. Only have caught two cutthroats. Oh and can't forget all the whities! I've also been running into a lot of moose. Last week on a couple occasions I could hear a moose in the bushes snorting and huffing pretty loudly. Kind of freaky. Thursday I snuck up on a small bull eating some willows. Got real close to him (not on purpose) and he never saw me. Tonight I watched a much larger bull cross the river not too far above me. Lots of Moose on that river. Sorry I don't have too many pictures. I have mostly been fishing later in the evening and the lighting is not real great. I did make it out during the day once and snapped a couple pics. The first fish is pretty little but I really liked the way its spots looked. Really vibrant red with a purple ring around them. The second fish was a little bit nicer sized but nothing huge. All in all fishing has been awesome and will only get better as fall comes around.

Those Browns are Beautys. Wish I lived closer to the SF. One of these days I'll make it out there.

I went back again today and had some fun. Caught a few more and snapped a couple more pics. Also saw another moose.

Some mighty purty fish and wild life! The moose are my biggest bugaboo. I have had more problems with them and carry bear spray for those fun times we come face to face in the willows. Seems to be a lot of them this year.

What area of the SF have you been fishing? General area....

Thanks! Those moose are buggers. I always seem to sneak up on them accident and thats the part that freaks me out. I just can't believe how many there are in the river bottoms of the South Fork. I've been fishing the Heise area and it has been great. I took a friend from Boise out today and together we caught more fish in one outing than I have caught in a long time.
