I thought I had posted this earlier today but can't find the post.

I am headed to the north fork of the duchesne tomorrow with a 24' trailer and hope to find someplace to camp. I found that the three listed campgrounds were supposed to close this last monday and wondered if there was anywhere to pull off in that area to camp. I have only been to this location once and it was about ten years ago as a boy scout.

Typically we go up to the Trail Lake area and but I feel like checking out something new. Up mirror lake hwy there are dirt roads that open up to make shift campsites, there has to be something like that up the fork right?

Thanks in advance. You guys are awesome.

I do know that upper stillwater campground will be open until early october. That is what the campground host stated when I talked to him on sunday.

I would go up Yellowstone Canyon.

Even when the camp grounds are closed, in most cases you can still camp there but there will not be a camp ground host. I have been to a lot of the camp grounds during hunting season, in the area you are talking about and there are still those self pay stations there. Not sure if you are required to pay of not[:/].

thanks to everyone for your replies.

a link I found on outdoorsinutah.com shows that upper stillwater, yellowstone, and basically all the other campgrounds in that area are closed till may. whether that is the case or not I guess we'll see.

wiper-

that would be great if the we could still use the campground even if its closed. i was concerned that there would be a gate or something like that that was locked. we typically go up mirror lake highway and when those camp grounds are closed, they area gate locked closed. thanks

Yea, we have camped all over on the south slope, even in Dec and have never payed a fee to camp, I'm sure you will be fine.
