My husband and I took the kids fishing in a little pond near our house today and caught this. No idea what it is and in all the years we've been fishing in this pond this is by far the biggest fish we've caught out of it. We're in North Texas if that helps identify it. Thanks!

That is what they are selling in all the stores in my area now.

it comes in fillets, fish sticks,

that and pollic, and to be honest, I have not yet aquired a taiste for either of them yet..

Cant find cod in any of the stores any more... I guess it is official, the ocean ran out of cod, sure hope they come back.

Nice, did you get him on a live worm, its the only way I hear to fish them.its not just a tilapia, its a Blue Tilapia.I once saw a golden one, also I know there are red tilapia, and spotted tilapia.

So,are you fond of catfish.Sometimes I can't decide on which one,I like Tilapia from the market ,but the Blue Tilapia I caught was very gamey,I like spotted tilapia better "wild caught"

I do like catfish, but that like fresh salmon is a tad expencive around my part of town. Well any fresh fish for that matter.

the pollic and tilopia I had, taisted a little grainy and have a bit of a bitter taist to them. could be in the processing too. that is one of the problems with white fish, it will pick up taistes from other sorces. If I have to smother anything with catchup or lemon then it is not worth eating to me.

It’s a tilapia, Tilapia is low in saturated fat, calories, carbohydrates and sodium, and is a good protein source.

They sell those here now too and I buy them and fry them with a batter on them. Good fish. Good to make fish sandwich if you fry them with batter and put some mayo, pickle and lettuce on the bun.

Yum.

Yes, it's tilapia and it is a delicious fish to eat. This white fish can be baked, fried & even added to stews in order to create fantastic dishes.
