Got down to the ramp about 11:30 and saw FirstLight. He was encouraging, overcast day, fair current, should be a fish catching day. Started out on a hole for Smallies. Let the current drift my super secret soft plastic through the hole. Had a couple taps, missed a fish and it hit again when I started to reel in. A good fight and 3 jumps I netted a 19.5" SM. It was to be big SM of the day. Was using a 7' med spinning rod with 8# flourocarbon line. You don't want a lot of stretch in heavy current. Caught one other keeper SM just over 18" and 2 that were around 16".

Noted some bass busting on the surface just upstream from the hole, so I move up to give them a try. I hooked 12 LM on an assortment of topwater and popper baits. Landed 8 with 7 keepers. The 4 I lost were all on a Sammy, and two of them were bigger than any I landed. Hard to get a good hookup.

All told I hooked 16 bass today and got 12 in the boat. Lot of fun, but a little frustating too seeing those larger fish get off. emoBang

WBWilly stopped by to say hi. He said I was becoming a "River Rat". I do enjoy fishing below the dam, as Bill said, you never know what you are gonna get. Oh yeah, the first fish I caught was a DRUM of about 6 #. Packed it in about 5:30.

Regards, Labman
