Does anyone know of a fishing guide that will take me out to teach me some basics for fishing Utah Lake? I am an avid fisherman, fish all over the state, but I live 5 minutes from Utah Lake and don't have a clue how to fish it (other than worms and bobbers at LBH with the Orem Community Fishing Club kids). Any ideas would be appreciated or if you just think you are really good at fishing Utah Lake and want someone to split gas costs with you, that works too.

Two words for ya......TUBE DUDE.[cool]
There are a lot of people here that blow me away with how well they do at Utah Lake. I would think it would be a piece of cake to hook up with one of them.
TD introduced the U to me and I did very well....

[cool][#0000ff]I am definitely not a guide. Used to do some in California on a couple of waters. But in my old age I prefer to fish solitary and for my own enjoyment. Not always though. We get a few float tubers together from time to time for mini "floatillas".[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I am in the process fo finishing up a CD/Book on Utah Lake...history, ecology, fish species, angling techniques, access points and best fishing tactics, etc. If you will shoot me a PM with some more details on your favorite areas and species...and how you fish (bank, boat, tube, etc.)...I can shoot you a few of the rough draft chapters that can probably give you a lot of good background. After that it is on-the-water experience that counts.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We have a lot of generous and helpful folks on the board who fish Utah Lake a lot...and most of whom were once where you are...looking to learn. I am sure you will get some volunteers to help show you the spots...and to teach you all the excuses you need for the days when you don't catch a bunch.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The good news is that there should be some good fishing for all species for the next couple of months. Then it gets even better when the ice comes on...sometimes.[/#0000ff]

just scroll through some past posts here on Utah Lake. I am no expert, but it is my favorite lake in the state. It always has some sort of surprise. Good luck. shoot PM. Like the permit? shot on the profile.

As stated..see if you can hook up with TD or read his PDF's. The fish in UL are pretty easy to catch if you focus on the main fish...cats and WB, Cappie and Gills. They all hang around weeds and structure and can be caught using standard equipment.

Do you have a float tube or pontoon? Boater or shore angler?

Have a tube, sometimes fish from the shore, but am most interested in learning to fish UL from a boat. TD sent me some incredibly good information, but still looking for someone who knows the lake to either take me out in his/her boat or come with me on mine.

You are a smart man to stay focused on going with someone. I am always amazed how reading good info just never seems to turn the light bulb on for me until I go out with one who knows what he is doing and see it first hand. Then I come back and re-read the same info and it makes so much more sense.

I've read some of Tube Dudes stuff ... mighty good.

You might want to hook up with Fishkiller. He loves UL and does real good out there.
