Had a good day on Strike Saturday, Hammered the smallies. But frustrated with the crappies. Saw a bunch of boats on the hump but the closest I could get to it was the outside edges. Did manage a few and a perch and bluegill. Seems I can do well on the crappies at Owyhee but bomb at CJ. Owyhee is 102 miles from home and CJ is 67, you can see my wanting to figure them out. Seems the baits at Owyhee work a little at CJ but dont have the secret, tried nibbles, curly tails, worms (the bluegill and perch). 'mI open to suggestions.
Enjoy this site I've never participated in one before. Too old for all this digital stuff I guess.

Thanks for the report. Know what you're saying about fishing the hump. We were sitting there not long ago, locked out of the good fishing area, watching the 8 boats on top of it hauling in fish every minute or two. We caught two fish total. Using what they were all using--chartreuse crappie jigs with a nibble on it. Hey, at least you got into the smallies! Mike

I was on the hump Saturday, and was frustrated for the first few hours, watching numerous people on all sides of me, pulling in one crappie after another.
It is rare when I cant figure the crappie out, so I was dumbfounded. I watched and mimked the guy in the boat next to me, yet still caught nothing. Then I tried casting out and counting . I only caught fish letting it sink for 9 - 11 seconds, and then reeling slowly.
First 2 hrs caught zero fish. Next 2hrs caught 25 nice sized crappie, and a couple of perch.. they did hit some colors better than others.. the bite was off and on, and when they were biting all 3 of us had fish on. It was feast or famine.
I would have caught double that, but a hit got his anchor stuck and spent 30's minutes churning up the water and spooking all the fish off..
Side note, use a cheap anchor there. Three people lost anchors there that day. I need to pick up another $10 Walmart anchor.
