SAT 1ST - LATE POST. My bro and I hit bubbleup next to the 5th buoys and caught about 30 white bass each, 13 of them were keepers. We got hits from the time we left the Lindon marina to the buoys.
Sat 8th, my daughter and I hit the buoys. It was a little chilly so I was concerned about our succeeding. No hits as we trolled to the buoys and it took about 5 minutes until we got the 1st one. We only got 10 but 7 were good sized. See only 2 other boats there. By 7 pm, it was freezing! Still a good day. Didn't really see any water movement from the pipes coming out. There sure a lot of leapord frogs in those retaining ponds though.
I haven't caught a cat all year so maybe in 2 weeks, we'll hit Lincoln beach or the Knolls. Ready TD's comments, we may have to hit Lincoln. I've been there twice this year and caught zilch. Maybe try again.

[cool][#0000ff]Glad you found a few fishies. The bubbleup can be fickle. Some days you can't keep 'em off and other days you can't buy a bite.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Was there any/much water flow coming out of the pipe? That usually helps attract more fish.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I plan to hit Lincoln Beach sometime this week myself and I will work the spots that usually produce the best this time of year. Generally I get the most and biggest cats due north of the end of the north dike...dragging a bait slowly out into progressively deeper water. I make slow S turns to try to find the ZONE and then toss out a marker buoy to use to orient myself once I start getting some action. The fish tend to stay in small areas and if you get away from them it can be lonely.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Another good approach is to start at the end of the south dike and move straight east toward Provo. The water has some depth and there are several spots out away from the dike that often hold fish deep this time of year.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The third good area is straight out off the springs, after the rock shelves drop off and you are fishing the mud flats. The water here is about as deep as anywhere on the lake...12 feet or more in places. This is a good spot to drag a minnow or a crawler. Both cats and big walleyes at times.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I'll post a report if I make it down. Otherwise, PM me if you need more info.[/#0000ff]

Thanks for the tip. I'll probably try there saturday. I thought this year was the big trip for a big cat but I'm running out of time. We have a few comfortable trips left then I may have to hang up till the ice sets.
I'll post my results as well.

[cool][#0000ff]In checking my past fishing logs I find that I have had good big cat trips to Lindon (bubbleup area), the Knolls and Lincoln Beach all in October. And in a couple of cases they were around the full moon time too.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you plan to hit the bubbleup again I can X you in to some of the better late season catfish spots. Think a big circle around the end buoy...especially as long as those little white bass are in there. Use small jigs to catch a few and then use them (dead) for bait. Walleyes and other larger white bass eat them too.[/#0000ff]
