I caught this guy about 8 hrs ago give or take an hour... I'll be posting the full story on my blog. Smile

This is the first time I've gone fishing in over a month... glad I did!

Congratulations on the awesome fish, Telbone. Did you troll that beast out of the depths? Please post a link to your blog, I'll bookmark it this time.

The background in the pic reminds me of Navajo Lake in Utah.

Hey guys,

Didn't mean to leave you guys hangin', but I had house guests and didn't want to be rude and run up to the computer.

Anyhow... here's the skinny... fished 3 days at Kolob reservoir... I was lucky 'nuff to weigh in a 2.5 lber on the first day. Both me and my friend caught a lot of fish and many nice ones, but that mark held until a few hours before we left. I had talked my friend into going into a certain spot on a "hunch" and I hooked up with this guy. I have a digital scale and the official weight was 5.2 lbs. It was on a light spinning outfit. 6lb stren mono with hardware on the end. It was a fun fight Smile.

Oh yeah.. that is Kolob reservoir... if you look in my profile it has been listed as my favorite lake for many years. This is why.

I have to say... I busted a gill on this guy and he was going to die so we kept him. As much as I would have preferred to let this guy swim and get him again when he was bigger, he was for sure dead.... big cloud of red at the side of the boat.. he was legal at 22 and 1/2 inch.

I also caught several on a fly and I find it's less stressful on the fish, but I won't preach.

Here's my opinion in a nutshell. Cover a lot of water. We found a lot of fish in several small pockets. We marked the fish then fished from pocket to pocket. We did quite well.

Get up there NOW! Smile
