East Canyon - My twin and I arrived at our dam cove at 3pm. We fished it until 4:15pm. We threw out senko worms rigged wacky, spinners, spoons, and spinnerbaits with no bites! The water clarity was not great but seemed not as bad as I have heard about lately. The water level had dropped SIGNIFICANTLY. Pretty sure that was a contributing factor to the skunking as my cove spots were around 50 feet above me. Decided it was time to re-visit Little Dell.

Little Dell - Arrived at 5pm and fished until 7pm. I caught 1 bear lake cutt and my twin caught 1 bonneville cutt. We both had around 10 bites each but no hook-ups. We were using a gold kastmaster. I bailed to hit the beaver dams along the creek. I lost a brook trout at 12 to 13 inches at one puddle and I could tell it was one due to the flashing red belly as it kept rolling on the reel in.

I carried on and got nibbles from dinky trout at the next beaver dam where I got within feet of a large porcupine, twice (no it was not myself or my twin). I was using a blue fox gold spinner in size #0. The past 2 times only bonneville cutts have come from the inlet. Other anglers complained that it was slow fishing. No pics as my twin forgot his camera at home this time.

Turns out our dad was on the shoreline taking pics....too bad he wasn't there for the fish catching. What a slow day for Little Dell. Oh well at least we each caught a cutt to keep the skunk off.

How did you catch a Bear Lake????????

Maybe these will help. Are there not both strains of Cutts in Little Dell?

I know the difference.

Quote:

Little Dell contains Brook trout, Brown trout, and native Bonneville cutthroat trout.

No Bear Lake there, just very protected Bonnies.

There is no BLC's in Little Dell. It's been a self sustaining brood stock for the DWR. Hasn't been planted since '93 if I recall.
They (Bonneville's) are similar since the BLC is a strain of the Bonneville.
But then I'm sure you two already know that.

There is a lot of variety in the spotting patterns on the Bonnevilles. These in this post are all wild Bonnies and there are no two that look that much alike in their spot patterns.
