Kali and I fished Horsethief today from the bank, and limited easily. The fish are very active. If you aren't getting any action, move. Some the the fish were very nice-sized. We stopped at Cascade on the way back, and watched quite a few boats anchored off the shore, and they were hammering the perch. The action is too far off for bank fishing. They were fishing two locations, one by the city park, and the other off Crown Point. Mike

Hey Mike,
I've fished Cascade several times in the past month and have only been catching small perch so it's good to hear that the jumbos are still around. I have caught several nice cohos though. I'm not familiar with the city park - are you talking about the state park (Van Wyck)? Thanks for the post and maybe I'll see you up there.

I'm referring to the ramp/park next to the golf course clubhouse. Good luck up there. I'm PMing more info. Mike

Well, you were right. The perch fishing has finally turned on. I went up yesterday and fished from the float tube for about three hours - it was cold, windy and choppy. I caught a few jumbos but lots of nice fat ones in the 9-10 inch range. They were only in 5-6' of water. Nothing worth taking pictures of plus me wife has banned me from taking my camera fishing since I've ruined two so far this year.

UT, Are you just rubbing it in cause I went hunting instead of going fishing with you? [

Wish I had gone fishing..... Hunting wasn't very good.

Bug, I still have some more elk hunting to do but I'm going to fish up there every chance I get for the next two weeks starting with tomorrow. Pretty soon we will be back out on the ice and I can't wait to try the new sonar.

game seven may not have equaled game six but it was pretty good!

Perchalong - It was a great series, you gotta love the never-say-die attitude of the Cards and they deserved to win. How pissed was Nolan Ryan? I'm glad I'm not his dog. It was good to meet you yesterday and I'm sure I'll see you this winter if not sooner.
Bug - I got the Lowrance X67C which has a flasher but also has the standard modes and I got it with the ice fishing transducer. I bought it primarily for ice fishing but use it on the tube to show depth and structure.
Kodiak - fishing was decent yesterday. Lots of people but everybody was cool and I met some nice folks. I caught a few jumbos but most were in the 9"-11" range which make a nice fillet. I didn't catch a ton of dinks which is a nice change. The last few years it has been either jumbos or dinks with not a lot in between. There appears to be a trend towards more medium-sized fish this year which is fine by me.
