Had fished with Wiskers this AM and just had to get out again before the front came through so called a buddy from work that I had hoped to get out on the water this fall and he was available. This morning it had been dead calm down on the river but once we got back the wind started howling and I had decided that even though we had planned to fish for crappie that we would have to change our plans and go for bass. As I was getting the boat down to fish at 5:30 the wind stopped and we had very little breeze and no storms that had been forecast. We did fish for crappie and had 10 nice big keepers, 11-13+ inchers, one ten incher and one non keeper, fishing deep close to the WT channel. All of the hits came on the drop or pause in the retrieve. Line watching was the only way to see the hits. The light was getting low and we decided at 6:45 to go for topwater bass using the last available light. We had a few blowups but only boated one bass along a grassline that has been good to me recently, it was about 1.5-2lbs. Ed took the crappie home to clean and hopefully to make his wife happy! It was a great day to be on the water and we were very blessed that the wind laid down for us to be able to fish for those deep crappie. Ten minutes after I got into the house it began for pour rain too, great timing! Hopefully the front passage won't stop the fish from biting. Here's a pic of Ed with a couple of the fish.
