Budget Problems Close Colorado's North Sterling SP to Boating

STERLING, CO - North Sterling State Park will close to boating on Friday, September 30. While the water levels remain higher than normal for this irrigation reservoir, budget reductions require that the park to close for boating at the end of the month.

"Although North Sterling will close to boating, there are still a lot of great recreational opportunities at the park that people can enjoy," said David Piper, North Sterling State Park's Manager. "Fishing is still very good from shore with lots of wipers coming out daily. Bird and wildlife watching along the south trails is a great way to spend a morning or evening at the park.

"Hunting is allowed in designated areas for waterfowl, upland game as well as big game," said Piper. The south campgrounds have also closed for the season, but the Elks Campground is open year around. For more information please call the park office at 970-522-3657.
